Even though the last time I posted I was talking about my Polish 'patriotism', I'm also a Brit which means I'm happily going to drink a few beers tonight in my own quiet observance of 'Commonwealth Day'. Perfect excuse ;) - The happy, alcohol fuelled life of a PolBrit, or should that be Britpole?
Interestingly enough much of the blogosphere concerning Easter Europe over the past few weeks has been filled with really insightful observations about Women's day celebrations. This ties in quite nicely with the nature of the Queen's speech.
'Women as Agents of Change'
Personally, I think the speech is quite heart warming a brings a nicer tone to world events then the terrible news we've had over the past few days (Good luck Japan).
You can observe FB's reaction to the speech here:
Happy CommonWealth day to all I suppose.
ReplyDeleteNice one pal, found you from NZ
ReplyDeleteMaybe Poland could follow Mozambique’s lead and join the commonwealth. It would be nice to have the commonwealth games in another European country; nit so far to travel :)
ReplyDeleteI assume by your GB reference that you are a fan of the Monarchy page. I have to own up to the fact that not only am I a fan of the monarchy page but also the British Monarchist League. :)
Slight correction:

Hands up if you had a good commonwealth day!
ReplyDeleteMe!
I had no idea it passed, but happy belated Commonwealth Day!
ReplyDeleteI have always thought that our history, and position between the Commonwealth nations, the USA and EU nations perfectly sets us up to be a bastion of stability and order in the world; akin to a Switzerland, but with more clout in the world.
It's a shame our governments are such pansies. They inherit so much, but do so little. I think I'd rather see the monarchy/house of lords have a greater share of power; them presumably being less likely to pander to the media and make fashionable decisions.
