I'm slightly left, slightly liberal |
Political Compass
If any of the readers here take the test, let me know your results and I'll put them all on one graph to see if anything interesting emerges!
This quiz has been around a while but it's good and so you know, my ideology stands at
Intreresting test,
ReplyDeletemy results:
Economic Left/Right: -0.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.26
My result gives me economic -2.50, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian -3.49.
ReplyDeleteHowever, unless the questions are extremely cleverly constructed, I feel that I have answered many questions strongly agree/disagree just because the question does not ask for my view about the subject, but gives alternatives that give me answers that do not seem to me to be judgemental.
For instance, "No one can feel naturally homosexual". I know that people do feel naturally homosexual, so I strongly disagree. Did they want my view on homosexuality?
"It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society". Since everyone contributes to society in some way or other, I must strongly disagree with the idea that their (non-) existence is regrettable. It is such a loaded question, that I can't even guess what opinion they were trying to test. Are these horrible people bad? Are there lots of these horrible people? Is it a good thing that horrible people make lots of money?
As I say, the questions could be very clever, but I am sceptical.

Cheers for all your results boys and girls.
ReplyDeleteBased on my results and a few beers I decided to join the Lib Dem political party in the U.K. so maybe I can begin to understand my liberal ideas revealed to me through this internet quiz!
I think I should make more life decisions based on internet quizs...
Kolin - Thanks and I'll add you to my blog roll!
maybe they should use that as a slogan at the next elections "Get drunk, join the Lib Dems!"
ReplyDeleteI'm with them all the way, to the point where they say get rid of Trident and install PR. Then I’m afraid I have to differ.
We must be liked minded Jeremy because that's exactly how I feel.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pro-Trident it's unreal, I'm even considering writing a post about it. I'm spending a little bit of time 'lurking' on the Lib Dem forums trying to coerce people into my pro-Trident point of view.
But to be honest, I realised that many Lib Dem supporters are pro-nuclear weapons, they are only not that keen on Trident as the way to deliver them. The problem is, Trident is expensive and cheaper options are availiable, for example the current Astute submarines could easily be equipped to deploy the British deterrant.
I think Nick Clegg was clever about has position around Trident during the elections - he only ruled out a like for like replacement allowing him to grab the 'Hippy', 'Peace loving' vote :P
Whilst giving him room to back track in the future and keep a nuclear weapon option in Britain's armoury
But still, I support Trident because even if it is expenisve the cost is spread over many years and Trident gives the British armed forces a reliable and highly credible delivery method. Trident can hit anything, everytime.
