The good things, The bad things

Somebody last week told me that, generally, people use social networks to boast about the good things in their life. Anybody who has used Nasza Klasa will see this and maybe it's also true to some extent on Facebook. I just hope that I'm not guilty of 'glorifying' anything in this blog.

saying that, I am about to brag about one small success. Today, I achieved my B1 German certificate with Deutsche Welle. Big smile on my face because I do enjoy German, and it seems to come easy to me when I compare it to Polish. I spend one hour a week on my German and around 6 hours a week on my Polish. It amazes me therefore that my German is now better than my Polish (Officially) and maybe goes to support the theory that Polish is just a difficult nut to crack.

However, for anybody out there wanting to learn a language on the cheap, you really can't go wrong with DW. I've talked about it before here, and it's definitely one of the best language resources in the world. That's a big statement but I'll put my money where my mouth is and bet If you try it, you'll learn something. It has never been easier to become a polyglot. For example, I really enjoyed the Radio D series over the summer, and there is loads to download to your MP3 player or things to read on the bus or between lessons.

So that's my success, now how about some of my failures this weekend...

1. Failed to complete any strength exercises (part of my NY resolution)
2. Wasted majority of Saturday playing old PC strategy games.
3. Failed to catch up on my emails.
4. Acted like an idiot towards the missus
5. Failed to stop worrying about the the insignificant
6. Failed to get drunk
7. Failed to do anything constructive around the house or garden.
8. Failed to find any website or stream to watch Premiership footy on Saturday.

So, there we go. 1 success, 8 failures.

That ratio is about an average weekend for me so I'm feeling quite happy.

p.s. You my have noticed I've added my email address on the right. Feel free to make contact if you have anything to say or you'd just like to shout at some one.
